Emergency tip: Flashlights
Keep a flashlight near your bed in case of an emergency. Have flashlights in strategic places around the house, like the kitchen, bathroom, garage, etc. Remember to check batteries every so often. If there is a blackout and your child is in the bathroom, having a flashlight there will let them see, and thus they'll feel a little safer.

How to Get Rid of Water Rings and Dried Candle Wax
House Hold Tips. This morning I helped my friend clean up after her Oscar Party. She had water rings on her wood table and candle wax dripped on her candle sticks. “It’s as easy as pie to fix,” she said. Can’t say I find making a pie that easy to make but cleaning the candle sticks and table were. My friend put mayonnaise on a paper towel and rubbed it in the water rings and let it soak for one hour. The water rings disappeared. Then she got a hair dryer, put it on high, and pointed it at the candle wax. It melted and she wiped the wax away with a paper towel.

How to get white liquid paper or nail polish out of carpet.
To get out white liquid paper or nail polish out of carpet.
If you have a special rug let a professional deal with it. But if the rug is old or not so very special you can try this. (Make sure you have a colorfast rug. Try first in tiny corner so you don't ruin rug.) Blot a small amount of nail polish remover (with acetone) on white liquid paper or nail polish. Blot afterwards with water. Blot dry. This has worked for me.

Help for Ant Invasion
1) Do you get ants in your dog's food dish? If so, then get a bowl bigger than your dog's food dish. Fill this bowl with a few of inches of water. Put food dish inside bowl of water. The ants don't like going over water to get to dog food.
2) Do you have trouble with ants on your counter? This trick has worked for me. Make a thin circle of salt around where you see the ants coming in. The ants don't like crossing through salt.

How to Keep Spiders out of your House
I've done this to keep spiders from coming in through window cracks. Clean outside of the window, plus all around it, including the ledge, with soap and water. Dry areas with old shirt/rag. Next spray a wax dust cleaner on ledge and all around window. I was told this tip by someone who said spiders don't like slippery services. This does help for whatever reason.

At Home: How to take off Sticky Price Tags
Have you ever bought something and had a hard time getting the sticky price tag off? To get a stubborn sticky price tag off of a glass or plastic item soak price tag in warm water, next scrap tag off with your nail. If you’re still having trouble dab a little rubbing alcohol on price tag, then peel. Make sure plastic item won’t be ruined by rubbing alcohol first.

Sewing Tip from Fashion Designer
Two Easy Sewing Tips from a fashion designer friend of mine: 1) Before you sew by hand or machine make sure you place two to three colors of thread (for bobbin too) on the material you’re sewing. This way you can pick the best color that blends into the material. If your material is multi-colored pick the one that shows the least.
(2) For fly away shirts sew a dime in the inside hem where it tends to fly up. The dime will weigh down the material.

2 Tips for Coffee
2 Tips for Coffee
1- To make the flavor of your vanilla or hazelnut coffee even better add cinnamon. If you use a coffee maker put one teaspoon of cinnamon in ground coffee beans.
2- When you’re done with your coffee grounds add them to your compost, or put them around roses, lemon and orange trees. Sprinkle some around your Hydrangea bush to make pink flowers turn blue.

Home Tip: Home Fire Escape Plan
Create a home fire escape plan for your family. Make sure all your doors and windows can be opened. Open up windows that have been painted shut. Have a family meeting to tell all family members what the fire escape plan is. Have a place where you meet after the escape, like your front driveway. Practice the escape and time it. If you have a two story house you might want to check out fire ladders at a home safety store. If you can't find one look online or call your local fire department to find out where to purchase one. Also, you can purchase window stickers to let others know you have animals inside your home in case of a fire or a disaster.
Remember to have WORKING fire detectors in all rooms and hallways. Check batteries every six months.

Find how to Shop and Save for your Family
Here are some ways to shop and save!
1- Get a Costco card. The card costs money to get, but you can buy in bulk and save. (Find out what day(s) your area's Costco gives out free samples of foods.) Get grocery store savings cards as well. They should be FREE. Also, ask at other stores if they have savings cards. The more money you save the better.
2- See if your city's Sunday newspaper carries coupons. If they do, buy one. Cut coupons and save.
3- Sign up for store newsletters if they give you store discounts. But make sure they don't share you're email with other businesses.
4- When you shop online look for coupons, coupon codes, discounted items, the clearance section and for free shipping. This goes for retail stores as well. Look for bargains. Sometimes if a piece of clothing or a product is slightly damaged (a tear in the seam you can sew or a hardly noticeable scratch on a lamp) you can get a price break. Also, find out if your insurance company or other businesses will give you a discount if you sign up online.
5- When you shop ask the cashier if they have any coupons you can use (I have gotten free coupons this way).
6- At antique stores, flea markets, consignment stores, and garages sales ask for a lower price on an item. (I frequently get discounts this way too)
7- Paying by cash sometimes can get you a lower price. You can get price breaks at certain gas stations and other places by doing this. DO ASK if you can get a break on a price by paying cash at antique places and other mom and pop businesses. Stop using credit cards if you can. This will help you stay within your budget. And you won't have to pay the outrageous interest rates.
8- See if your grocery store has a policy of giving customers 5 cents back for every paper shopping bag that is reused.
9- Wait before you shop. You could save. Call a store and see if they have a sale coming up and what kind. See if they have weekly or monthly days were you can save a percentage (10%, 15%, etc.) on a purchase. And find out if there are days where they give out free samples/trials of products. Try free trials first to see if you like a company's product or service.
10- If you plan to buy an expensive item, furniture, or you intend to have work done on your house, get more than one price comparison. If you like the more expensive company, tell them so. Then say you got a lower price from another company and would they lower their price. It's worth a shot. It's worked for me.

Tip for cleaning fruits and vegetables
To clean fruit and vegetables that you buy at the store. Put drain stopper in your sink. Fill sink with water, then add some white vinegar. A cup of vinegar to a sink filled half way. Don't use too much vinegar because you don't want your fruit to smell. Get a scrubber and lightly scrub fruit and vegetables in this solution. Don't bruise fruit while brushing. When done, let water out of sink and rewash fruit and vegetables with plain cold water. Dry food well before putting in frig.
